GRAND MAL

DON VINIL - VOCALS    CRAIG GRAY - GUITAR    WILL SHATTER - BASS    TODD ROBERTSON - DRUMS

Negative Trend was born out of the short lived band Grand Mal which formed in July of ’77. Grand Mal’s first lineup featured Don Vinil, later of the Offs, on vocals, Craig Gray on guitar, Vale, of Search and Destroy magazine on bass  and  Todd Robertson on drums. Vale soon left due to his magazine commitments and Will Shatter, who had recently returned from the UK, joined the band. Will had no musical experience and bought his first bass when he joined. Craig taught him to play each song note by note.  Grand Mal’s first gig was at a party  but as the drummer never showed Danny Furious from the Avengers played drums. Grand Mal started rehearsing with a second guitar player, Fred (last name lost in the mists of time). When that didn’t work out Don and Fred left to start the Offs.
